~ CAPTAIN'S TIP: New Year's Resolutions

Now that 2005 has drawn to a close and 2006 has started to build up momentum, I'd like to share some ShipStore.com news and resolutions.

But first, a whopping big thank you! This has been another big year for us, and we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for choosing the ShipStore.com crew to fulfill all of your marine supply needs. Thanks for spreading the word to your boating friends. Thanks for your feedback which has helped us figure out what we're doing well and what we need to keep working on. Thanks for everything! We promise to keep working hard to make you happy with us in 2006.

Reflecting on 2005, some major accomplishments come to mind. One that you've probably been aware of is the "new look" of our website. We launched an updated design that not only cleans up our "online clothes" but has made the site easier to navigate and all around more user-friendly.

In addition, we committed to a consistent, weekly Beacon newsletter to keep you updated, and we dilated the newsletter content as well. We continued to award Beacon subscribers with $100 shopping sprees in our random drawings, and we "beefed up" the ShipStore.com Clear the Deck sales in response to your requests for more items.

We launched eBay online auctions for our Sevylor inflatables product line (there's a link on the ShipStore.com homepage), and have been auctioning off lots of Sevylor clearance items to eBay buyers all around the world. We promptly became an eBay PowerSeller due to the incredible demand for Sevylor products! Check out our current auctions here:

Recently we integrated the shipping calculator into all of our listings, so that when you've found an item you'd like to order all you have to do is enter your zip code for a quick estimate of shipping costs. It's user-friendly and super helpful. Try it out now.

As you can see, we were working hard for you in 2005. And we plan to work even harder in 2006. Looking ahead, there's plenty that we already have scheduled for the months ahead. Here's a sneak preview of some of our New Year's Resolutions.

We've been experimenting with search solutions to improve the ShipStore.com shopper experience, and soon we'll be beta testing a new and improved way to find what you're looking for. Since our goal is always to improve ShipStore.com for you, we'll be relying on you to help us decide if you like the new search function better. Please email us with your feedback and suggestions so that we can develop an ever more user-friendly searching and shopping interface.

Building on the success of our Sevylor auctions mentioned above, we're going to try out an eBay integration for ShipStore.com marine supplies as well. We'll be opening an eBay store and auctioning high demand boating items to extend even greater savings whenever possible. In addition, our savvy web developer, Mark Engelhardt, has worked out a way to automate our eBay auctions with our own shopping cart to simplify auction payment and tracking. We'll have this new application up and running shortly, allowing you to settle your eBay transactions immediately at ShipStore.com, use our website to determine shipping costs, etc. It'll significantly simplify the auction buying experience, and it'll make our hard working customer service representatives VERY happy!

In addition to our "Win a Shopping Spree!" $100 drawings for Beacon newsletter subscribers, we'll be adding a new quarterly contest. Four times each year, we'll be drawing a name for a popular "high demand" ShipStore.com item. We'll be announcing the first one soon on our website and in our newsletter, so keep your eyes peeled.

There are a couple more exciting changes to the Beacon newsletter in 2006. We will be introducing Beacon "subscriber only" specials to reward you for reading our weekly newsletter. So you can think of your Beacon subscription as a cost savings membership! And the Beacon will take on a whole new format, arriving in your email inbox as a full color, HTML newsletter. Please send us your feedback once you receive the first non-text newsletter. We'd love to hear what you think.

And, last but not least, we will continue to grow our online knowledgebase to help you select the right products and learn how to tackle all sorts of boating and water sports activities. In 2006 we intend to make ShipStore.com better than ever!
