~ WELCOME ABOARD: Spotlight on Westport Marina!

The scuttle-butt in the Adirondacks is that we've just passed through the rainiest May in history and are now well on our way to a record breaking June as well. Bah-humbug! Lake Champlain water levels remain too high for most people to use their docks, and corn on the cob is beginning to seem like a fantasy from a bygone era.

Those are "boats" being raced by students from Westport Central School's senior physics class and seventh grade technology class. The seventh graders had originally been tasked with building sleds, but our virtually snow-less winter necessitated a little flexibility in the curriculum!

And that's not the only photograph to pass along to you. Check out the photo our Steve, Carol and Chris Malone (members of our Westport Marina home fleet) that was featured on the front page of a local newspaper, The Press Republican:

The cover story, Priceless Fun, examined the impact of rising gasoline prices on local boaters' summer plans and featured The Westport Marina prominently. Captain Jim's parents, Bob and Dee Carroll were quoted as saying that they do not anticipate a reduction in the number of powerboaters on the lake this summer despite high fuel prices. Bob commented that prices are actually lower than they were last fall, and Dee anticipated increased traffic from Canadian boaters:
