~ WELCOME ABOARD: The 40th Annual Labor Day 2006
=============================================================

Can you believe it's been almost four decades, and the Westport Marina still throws the best end-of-summer bash in the North Country!

This longstanding tradition (two dozen years with the Carroll family alone) is popular with boaters and landlubbers alike, drawing regulars from near and far for a three-day weekend celebration. The fun begins Friday, September 1 & Saturday, September 2 with Josh Cramoy and his band performing live in the Galley Restaurant.

Saturday afternoon, while boat owners begin decorating their vessels for the big day, children and adults alike can participate in the annual Cardboard Boat Race. Contestants begin construction of their makeshift dinghies at 1:00 PM and race three hours later. Come see who'll sink, float and win!

Sinkers, floaters and spectators are all invited to the weekly Saturday night barbecue dinner prepared by Westport Marina owners, Larry and Bob Carroll. After dinner, the Jonathan Newell Band will rock and roll the night away.

And then at last it will be Sunday, the 40th annual Labor Day Lobsterfest. From noon to midnight Westport Marina will be the happiest place on earth! The day's activities include:

Kayak Races
Catalina Inflatable Boat
Balloon Twisting Artist (hats, animals and more)
Face Painting
Costume and Boat Decorating Contest (Theme: Flower Power!)

And then it's the long awaited lobster supper. (Advance Lobsterfest Dinner reservations required.) It's time to feast on clams, lobster, barbeque chicken, corn and possibly a beer or two. Just in time (8:00 PM), Damaged Goods will launch into a rousing evening of classic rock and roll. Once everyone's had a chance for a toe tapping, hip swishing, hair tossing tour around the dance floor, the band will wrap up its first set and the costume parade and contest will begin (9:00 PM). Every year there are some truly creative getups to enjoy, and prizes are awarded to the most dazzling of all. Don't miss out on the 40th annual Labor Day 2006!
