    - for example, from an strong wind
  • Floating strap provided
  • NikonÕs exclusive VR PAUSE button maintains a comfortable view while panning, tilting or following fast-moving objects
  • Long eye relief design allows use with eyeglasses
  • Turn-and-slide rubber eyecups

Nikon StabilEyes features outstanding 14x optics complemented by an advanced gimbaled servo system that compensates vibration to reveal an exciting new world of viewing opportunities.

Switch between two selectable modes Ñ LAND mode for watching sports and wildlife, or astronomical observation; ON BOARD mode in strong winds or when viewing from a moving vehicle Ñ to enjoy clear, stable images in diverse conditions.

KEY FEATURES :
Both version of the StabilEyes offer :
  • Reduced vibration for superior performance and steady view

  • Fully multilayer-coated lenses for optimal brightness

  • Phase-correction-coated prism for high resolution

  • Waterproof and fog-free with O-ring seals and nitrogen gas

  • Ergonomic styling for comfortable grip, easy access to controls
USAGE
Land Mode
Choose LAND mode when footing is secure, to compensate vibration from hand shake, binocular movement while following a moving subject.

For nature study
Ideal for up- close birdwatching or astronomical studies in stable settings.
For watching sports events
Follow all of the field or stadium action up close.

Onboard Mode
Choose ON BOARD mode when your footing is unstable due to strong vibrations, as from an engine or strong wind.

From a helicopter
Monitor ground activities or conduct a search.
For observing wild animals from a moving vehicle
Ideal for situations influenced by strong vibration Ñ such as a moving vehicle Ñ without panning or tilting.
On a boat or ship
For fishing or other marine activities.

Vibration Reduction Principle

The face of the internal erecting prism shifts direction, thereby redirecting the light beam and stabilizing the image. When there is no vibration and the binoculars are parallel to the line connecting the viewerÕs eye to the subject being viewed (a), the prism transmits the light straight through. When there is vibration and the binoculars are not properly aligned (b), as long as the prism is not moved the light beam will be transmitted to the viewerÕs eye. This example illustrates rotation on the horizontal axis.
The StabilEyes prisms feature a gimbaled frame controlled by two piezoelectric sensors and two direct drive motors to ensure constant stability.
