Proper fuel stabilization is critical to a well running engine.
We note that some "authorities" recommend fogging the engine with a product such as CRC Engine Store, just before stalling the engine by cutting of the gas supply. They then recommend draining the gas tank, leaving it empty,
We do not agree. You should follow manufacturers instructions, almost all of which recommend a fuel stabilizer. Today's fuel is not as stable as the simple mixtures of past years.
Insurance and marina fire codes recommend storage with tanks al most full. The explosion hazard is less and condensate is minimized.
You will destroy an electric fuel pump if you run it dry.
Engine Store should be used on conventional carb engines.
It will not work on fuel injected engines, which require a different technique. Unless you know what you are doing, you should have a professional winterize an injected engine. Failure to do it right may void any warranty claims.
